Skyway

I wish that this is EDSA everyday. Going to work would be a breeze. And having these kind of roads in it, would also help a lot. Wishful thinking here, LOL.

Icebergs at MOA

I really wanna try Lugang, but it's always full and I was really hungry so we decided to eat at Icebergs.

I had Chicken Cordon Bleu and she had their Pork Sisig. My patience is a little short specially if it involves eating. Her food came in time but mine was so late. We had to follow up twice!

Okay so my food finally came then time to eat! After enjoying our meal, we shared a mango parfait.

It was ok I guess. But I'd still prefer Swensens over Icebergs, bigtime. When it was time for the bill, it took at least 40-45 minutes to get the bill, print the receipt and give it to us. Talk about an inefficient manager! And while we were waiting for the bill, they took out the trash with dripping water under it. Good thing we were done eating.

Old Penang at Newport City mall and Sumo Sam at Rockwell

After working out in the gym last saturday, we were going to Resorts World for a buffet lunch at Mercado. They have a promo for their buffet lunch at 188 per person, sulit right?

So from Alabang, we took the Skyway and arrived at RW. Upon arriving at Mercado, they have a notice that the promo is suspended until further notice. We were confused since the website is tellung us otherwise. RW please update your website. People do rely on what's on your website so please.

Okay plan b, find a restaurant at the Newport City Mall. I decided we should try and eat at Old Penang.

Okay so the name of the first thing we ordered is complicated so we'll call it (for the sake of this blog) pad thai look-a-like.

Noodles are good. Taste is ideal for a pad thai look a like. And I love that tiny bits of chiharon.

Hinanese. One is roasted the other is steamed. One problem though, it was cold when the staff put it on our table.

Our total bill, roughly around 500. Not bad, since it can be shared by 2-3 people.

Okay after spending a few hours together, she wanted to try Happy Lemon in Rockwell so we went there. Before ordering the tea, we had dinner at Sumo Sam.

This time I took a picture of our order from the menu. Haha

Okay time to eat! Infairness to the food we ordered it was more than enough for 2 people and more importantly the noodles were yum!

Ebun and Swensen again. LOL

Okay this happened last friday when our plans for the night were ruined since we can't watch The Sound of music that day. (Voucher gone bad - Buyanihan)

We ended up at MOA to have dinner and dessert. So since we ate at cafe mediterranian (which I have no post of, darn) last time we went out, I was the one who picked the restaurant this time and I picked Ebun. Didn't have photos of the regular food, but here's something I haven't tried ever, Balot!

Tried my hardest to put it in my mouth without vomiting. Turns out, it's ok. But I only ate a few bites since I think it has a day old chick in it. Scary.

Though I like Ebun's food, their service that night was a disaster. We also ordered okoy for our appetizer but guess what, we had to follow up with them a couple of times and instead of being an appetizer, it became a take home food. Talk about disappointment.

After a eating at Ebun, it's yay to dessert! Went to Swensens again. I had this craving for their ice cream.

OMG it's chocolate overload again. Talk about the ultimate cheat day.

Buyanihan: First and last voucher purchase.

Just yesterday (19Jan2012) we bought a voucher from Buyanihan, a group selling vouchers with discounts, for the musical play, The Sound of Music in Resorts World. So the schedule for the play is 8pm on Friday (20Jan2012) which was perfect timing for us, since we will be coming from the office from work.

I was the one assigned to get the tickets since my shift ends in 2 in the afternoon. Being lazy as I am, I went to Resorts world around 3pm and immediately went to the New Performing Arts Theatre (NPAT) located at the mall's 3rd floor. To my surprise, they said that they are not familiar with the said deal/voucher and instructed me to go to the tour counter. Arriving at the tour counter, I immediately ask where can I claim my tickets and they said that they weren't the one handling the Buyanihan voucher. They were kind enough to volunteer and assist me in talking to the people in NPAT. After checking, they had our tickets but there was a problem, the tickets that we have was for the 2pm show that day. So I asked, if there are any more shows for today, they advised that they originally have an 8pm show that day but were advised by the producer of the play around 2-3 weeks ago that the play will be moved to the 2pm instead of the original 8pm schedule.

That's where the problem starts, first of all, why did the Resort's World/ Newport Mall staff and the people at NPAT didn't know about this deal? I was informed by someone from them that there have been emails within the management/team as to who published the deal. They were under the impression that the only official voucher for the Sound of Music play is Ensogo. Second is that the voucher DID NOT state that the show was for 2pm or that the show was moved to an earlier time. Had we known, we'd never purchase that voucher. Third, we tried calling this Marco, who was supposedly the contact person for the voucher, but nobody's answering the phone. Okay so the only option left was, call Buyanihan's call center.

We have asked if we can have a refund for the voucher or if they can just reschedule it to another day. But we were told that they'd have to check first and we have to call back. What sucks is that it's holiday on Monday so we can only follow up on Tuesday.

I'll update this after a few days.

[ UPDATE 24JAN2012]

I called up the Buyanihan hotline to ask about any updates regarding the voucher. I was a bit relieved that they will be issuing a refund to all those who bought the said deal. And they reassured me that they will be sending the refund within 15 working days. Quite a wait actually, but it's better than having no refund at all. Still doesn't change my mind though, won't be buying from them anytime soon or never. :)

[ UPDATE 18MAR12]

Haven't received any new regarding the refund. I also haven't seen any refund when I checked my credit card bill online. I need to follow up.

[ UPDATE 21JUL12 ]

No, nothing still. I gave up following up. Lesson learned, never buy from them again.

Bantayan (sneak peek)

Thinking back on our Cebu trip, makes me want to go back there again. The 3 hour bus ride and almost an hour of ship ride (RORO) is all worth it.

Chateau Hestia

Okay so I was asking my officemate where I can bring my date to dinner that has a romantic feel to it and where we can have a little privacy. Of course, she initially suggested to go to Antonio's (which I havent been to by the way) but I kinda hesitated since I've heard that it's kinda pricey there. So she next suggested, Chateau Hestia.

Okay it was decided. When we arrived at the place, my initial reaction (from the parking lot) is that it was a bit spooky. Couldn't take a picture of the outside, way too creepy for me.

This is the package/set meal that we had availed. But it was great since we can change the other food on the menu.

A glass of red wine (forgot to ask what wine it is)

For our appetizers,

Onion soup

Pumpkin soup

Garden of Greens with Passion Fruit Vinaigrette

I think I'm a bit full just from the appetizer. Nonetheless, onto our main course!

Apple and Prune Pork Roulade

Seared Chicken and Mushroom Gulasch

I liked the seared chicken better than the roulade. The mashed potato was a hit. The consistency was to my liking and the gravy was perfect.

My favorite part of the meal, DESSERT!

Napoleon surprise (if I'm not mistaken)

Their version of Chocolate Souffle. Seems weird by the way 'cause thei usual souffle is supposedly not taken "out" of its container. I loved the souffle, actually better than that of Bizu's.

To sum it all up, I think the set meal of Php750.00 is reasonable. Intimate place, good service and good food.
